About Us

Birch Hollow has been an ASCA kennel name since 1987.  I am committed to breeding quality working Australian Shepherds with sound bodies and minds. I rarely breed, and when I do I put a lot of thought and planning into the match. I firmly believe in plenty of socialization for puppies, as this will impact them for the rest of their lives.

I was first introduced to Aussies in 1983. My first love was obedience, and I competed with my first Aussie, Sunny (Summer Sunshine of Hedgerow CD).
I competed in conformation with my second Aussie, Cassie (Wrenwood’s Charade). Cassie had one litter, producing Birch Hollow’s Black Jack CD, who in turn produced Wrenwood’s Jazz in Blue, a foundation bitch for my parents, Nels and Sandra Holmberg, at their Whiskey Creek Sheep Farm.

Gwen (Badgerland's Guinevere CD), Jazz (Wrenwood's Jazz in Blue),
Gizmo (Holmberg's Gatemouth Brown)

Since then my family has expanded by three new members: husband, Dr. Dane Jespersen, DVM and 2 wonderful sons, David and Michael Jespersen.
I got my start in working dogs with Teak and Baron in 1997 by going to trainer Shannon Wolfe. I highly recommend her to anyone in the southeastern Wisconsin area.
We are now located on a small farm (10 acres) near Stevens Point in central Wisconsin. Our animal menagerie consists of the dogs, a cat, sheep, chickens and ducks. Freezer lambs are sometimes available.
